Open postdoc position

The Centre for Theoretical and Computational Chemistry has a vacancy for a postdoc in applied mathematics or scientific computing, and modelling within theoretical physics or chemistry.

The successful candidate will be engaged in computational and modelling work in the group of Prof. Tor Flå, possibly in collaboration with researchers in-house or as part of external collaborations. Based on skills and interests, the postdoctoral fellow may also be involved in the development of new mathematical models. The successful candidate is expected to concentrate her/his research time on algorithms for solving the Kohn-Sham (KS) equation, obtaining the KS-orbitals and their energies in a linearly scaling manner. The ground state of the KS equation can also be formulated as an optimization problem where our integral formulation of the equations offers natural direct minimization and iteration algorithms. Multiwavelets and low rank tensor approximation methods is therefore important in our formulation of molecular orbitals and electronic potentials. The full announcement text and instructions for how to apply can be found at the web pages of jobbnorge.noThe application deadline is February 28 2013.
