Getting to the conference venue

By plane to Kristiansand

Strand Hotel Fevik is located about 45 minutes by bus from Kristiansand Airport Kjevik. In addition to being served by direct flights from most major Norwegian cities, including Oslo Gardermoen, there are three daily flights to Amsterdam with KLM and three daily flights to Copenhagen with Widerøe, a Scandinavian Airline Systems subsidiary. Note that also Norwegian will fly directly from different European cities several times a week.

In order to reach the hotel, there are regular buses 10 past the hour between 11.10 and 19.10. You will have to change to a second bus (Time-ekspressen) not far from the airport, and the second bus will await the arrival of the airport bus. The late arrivals (after 19.10) there are three buses, departing at 21:45, 22:35, 23:50. In contrast to the day-time scheduled buses, these buses will wait for late-arriving aircrafts, and no change of bus is necessary. All buses stop directly outside the hotel. The price for the bus service is NOK 200. More information can be found here.

If there are many participants arriving at the same time, you may consider a taxi. A regular taxi costs 1200 from the airport to Fevik, that is, NOK 300 if you are 4 people. A maxi taxi will cost 1800 and can accommodate 15 people. If you are more than 9 arriving at the same time, a maxi taxi will be cheaper than the bus service. Taxis can be preordered here

By plane to Oslo airport Torp

Ryanair operates out of Sandefjord/Oslo airport Torp (NOT GARDERMOEN) to several European destinations. After arrival at Torp, you can take a taxi for about 2 km to Fokserød crossing/E18, where you can enter the express coach service Sørlandsekspressen towards Kristiansand. You will reach Grimstad after 2 hours and 45 minutes, from which you can take a taxi to the hotel.

By train

From Oslo and Stavanger you can take the train to either Arendal (closest to the conference venue) or Kristiansand, from which you can then reach the hotel by bus.

By car

There are two ferry companies providing services to Kristiansand from Hirtshals in Denmark, Fjordline with three daily departures, and Color Line with 14 departures weekly. From Kristiansand, you follow the northbound European Highway E18, turning off after 48 km at Exit 79 towards Grimstad on Rv 420 and continuing for about 5 km to the hotel. The driving instructions can be found here.

From Oslo, you follow E18 until Exit 76 towards Fevik. The driving instructions can be found here, and the total driving distance from downtown Oslo is approximately 270 km.
